Celestial Atlas 2026

The Celestial Atlas shows, in its first part, the sky over the course of the months alongside with a detailed list of astronomical events, with magnitude limits of 6.5 for stars and deep sky objects. In its second section, it shows the Celestial Atlas as such, with stars of magnitudes up to 8.25 and objects with magnitudes up to 11 (fainter objects will appear if listed by Messier or Caldwell). For every sky chart, a detailed list is included with deep sky objects visible in it and sorted by magnitude. The total number of atlas stars is approximately 60,000 with around 1,100 deep sky objects (850 in the tables), 450 binary stars and 75 variable stars. This celestial Atlas has been developed by the OAN staff and is aimed at intermediate level amateurs who do not need a basic atlas or an extensively detailed one.
